One tap, and someone is there

No profile to fill in, no photo to pick. You open the page, allow the camera, and a stranger is on your screen. Not for you? You skip.

That is the whole point of random chat. Roulettly rebuilds it without the parts nobody asked for: no sign-up wall, no card, nothing to install. Any browser with a camera does the job.

How it works

Three steps. There is no fourth.

1

Press start

Your browser asks for the camera. That is the only question. No email, no password.

2

Get matched

You are paired with someone free right now, with priority to people who speak your language.

3

Talk, or skip

Stay while it is good. One tap and you face somebody else.

The Omegle alternative

Omegle shut down in November 2023, after fourteen years. The habit did not go with it: people still want to open a page, meet a stranger, talk about nothing, move on.

Roulettly is built for that habit. Random video chat, free, no sign-up, moderated, and honest about where your stream goes. The long version: the Omegle alternative, compared.

Alternative sites to Omegle

People searching for alternative sites to Omegle are not shopping for a feature list. They want the same thing back: a page that opens, a stranger who appears, nothing to sign.

Clones arrived after the shutdown, and many are already gone. The ones still running tend to share three traits: free to start, working in a browser rather than behind a download and a login, and moderated enough to stay usable. A random video chat with no rules does not stay pleasant for long.

Roulettly does all three, and says plainly what others skip: where your video goes. Same treatment for the OmeTV alternative and the Monkey alternative.

A dash means we could not verify that point on the service's own public page in August 2026, not that the answer is no.

Peer-to-peer video, and the honest exception

A signalling server introduces two strangers. After that, video and audio travel directly from one device to the other: standard WebRTC, the default for every match.

One exception, which we would rather state than hide. Some networks make a direct connection impossible: a firewall, a campus filter, a router doing symmetric NAT. The encrypted stream then goes through a relay that forwards it without storing it.

Direct by default, relay only when the network forces it, nothing recorded either way. More on how it works.

Free, and how credits work

The video chat is free. Not free for a week, not free until the third match. You never enter a bank card, because there is nowhere to enter one.

Some extras run on credits: choosing who you meet, changing the backdrop behind you. Credits come from watching a short video, which pays for the servers. Building your avatar costs nothing.

20 languages, and matching that uses them

The interface speaks yours, and matching favours someone who does too. From English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, through Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Persian and Hindi, to Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.

The menu at the top of this page switches the whole site, and the language you read in is the first one matching tries. It is a preference, not a wall: when nobody who speaks it is free, you still get someone.

Questions

Is Roulettly free?

Yes. The video chat is free. Credits for extra options come from watching a short video, never a card.

Do I need an account to talk to strangers?

No. You open the page, allow the camera, and you are matched. No email, no password, no profile.

What happened to Omegle, and what replaced it?

Omegle shut down in November 2023 after fourteen years. Roulettly is one of the alternative sites to Omegle: the same random video chat with strangers, free and without sign-up.

Does my video go through a server?

By default it is peer-to-peer, straight between the two devices. When a restrictive network blocks that path, an encrypted relay forwards it without storing it. Nothing is recorded either way.

Is the video chat moderated?

Yes. Report and block sit on every match. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, and nudity detection runs on your own device.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Roulettly runs in your browser, on a computer or a phone.

Can I chat with strangers in my own language?

The interface exists in 20 languages, and matching favours someone who speaks yours. Adults 18 and over only.
